Counterstrike woes

Hey guys. I just upgraded to the epox 8rda3+ nforce 2 ultra 400 board and im gettin an error in counterstrike.
This is what it says;

Im running windows 98se and a 9700 pro with cat 3.4 drivers. Im overclocking but its 100 percent stable in prime95 and 3dmark. I backed the fsb down but the problem remains. Also the diagnostic in the 9700's driver section fail on the memory test, it just hard locks 🙁

The agp bus is locked and so is pci bus. It seems like a 3d card problem but its been working fine till now in my old system.

Oh i forgot to mention. After counterstrike crashes, i have to reinstall direct x and then it works for a while before crashing again?

The EAX tag makes me think its the sound card buddy check for newer drivers.

lol..no EAX (in this case) refers to of one of the computer's registers.

Well guess what. As i remember, cs would crash rarely on my old setup and it was a sound card related issue so maybe with the nforce 2 board being so hi-tech the crash is more serious and happens more often. Ive installed the latest drivers as i was using the ones that came with the card.

Well, your problem could be due to some compatiblilty/driver issue related to your soundcard but I was just saying that the appearance of the letters "EAX" in the error message that you posted had nothing to do with a sound card. Every x86 computer has registers named EAX, EBX, ECX, and EDX (as well as others). The error message is telling you what is stored in those registers at the time of the crash.

I seem to have found the problem. Ive been running my memory at 204mhz on cas 2/3/3/6. I had to up the voltage by 0.16 volts to get it stable in 3dmark2001 like this but i think the motherboard was over volting the memory. I checked the voltages and it was varying from 2.79 - 2.84. Anyway i put the memory back to stock speed (200mhz) on cas 2.5,3,3,6 on stock voltage but im only running at 2.2ghz now. I ran counter strike for an hour and it didnt crash where as before just 15-30 minutes into the game it would crash. Time to edit my sig hehehe
