Good morning,
Firstly my specs;
An i7 11700KF
32 GB DDR4 @ 3200MHZ
MSI A-Pro Z490 mobo
1000w Silverstone Gold PSU ST-1000
Gigabyte RTX 4080
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Black Edition with 2 stock fans in push-pull config'.
Fractal Meshify 2 mid tower case
3 x 140mm intake Arctic P14s.
1 x 140mm Arctic P14 as rear exhaust
2 x 120mm Arctic P12s as top exhaust.

I have XMP enabled and my Windows 10 home does boost my cpu to around 4.9-5ghz when gaming, and at its worst my CPU temps do climb to about 80 degrees C when running a multi core Cinebench R20 test. The test is run during colder weather on the East Coast of Australia, so around 20 degrees ambient temperature in my man cave.

No other temp issues on any other components.

My question is whether I may see a lowering improvement in my CPU temps if I swapped the stock 2 x 120mm fans on the CPU cooler with 2 x Arctic P12s (taking the top exhaust fans off)

CFM stats alone comparing the two fans, suggest I may see an improvement perhaps?

arctic fans are good worth a try just to see ..
Another idea is force feeding cool air into the cpu cooler im not familiar with the meshify 2 case does it have mesh on the top ?

could try flipping one of the top fans to intake before the cooler ..

what ive done on my jonsbo D31 is used a 120mm exhaust at the back of the push pull config Noctua U12A then the 2 140s on the top one is exhaust closest to the rear of the cpu the other spaced out before the cpu cooler is intake !!

worse case if air cooling is your thing a Noctua u12a is about $240 aud ( not cheap but a awesome cooler keeps my 7800x3d at 80 to 83c in cinebench all core r23 and zen4 go to 95c by default )

Quite possibly, then you'd confront questions like:

Is it worth it?

Is the temp difference "significant"?

Am I less worried because I changed fans? If the answer to this one is "yes", I'd probably change regardless of how sensible it was.....as long as I didn't end up eating cat food.

If you are prone to worry about temps, it is difficult to turn those thoughts off.

I may try flipping one of my top exhaust fans to an intake directly above the cpu cooler, that seems like the easiest place to start. Thanks.

Well a flip of my 120mm Arctic P12 as a top exhaust, changed to intake right over my CPU cooler and it's made a 4 degree temp difference when running Cinebench r23. It got me a better score too of about 22 points, a small win is still a win,. Thank you.

your welcome ..

I will say this though is there a dust filter on the top as its going to suck dust straight into your system that way which is not ideal ive laid a dust filter cut down from a old nr 200p case on the top to mitigate some of the dust into the system !!

maybe a repaste of the cpu / cooler may help ..

another idea is a arctic freezer ii 280mm in the roof will cool the cpu better and extract heat from the case the 4080 is going heat the case up which is going to be the main cause of heat into the cpu hot air rises so the cpu cooler is sucking that hot air straight in from the GPU !!

( i probably wouldnt go a 240mm on the 11700k to cool but a 360mm maybe be a little overkill hence a 280mm if of course it will fit in the roof )

ive got the 360mm argb arctic freezer ii and a 420mm arctic freezer ii and i swear by them for quality , price and performance !!

super quite fans too as you would know they use the P120s and P140s

280mm arctic freezer ii is $159aud at pc case gear ( in stock ) its not the prettiest cooler but its sure is the best of the best for cooling at that price !!

even the gimmicky VRM cooler does work !!

Ive gone for the noctua Nh U12A for looks really .. i was looking at a Asus Ryujin 11 or 111 problem is 360 wont fit and a 240mm for the 7800x3d may not be good enough and they are super super expensive for what they are ..
i may end up with a 280mm artic at some point :)

I have a square shaped Silverstone magnetic dust filter that came with my PSU so I am using that atop my new 120mm Arctic P12 intake fan to catch any dust coming into the rig.
