Hi, I have

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E7200..
Windows 10

One core of my processor stopped working, This all happened after i Swapped my PSU (Power Supply) . someone told me to change windows so yesterday i installed windows 7 and my both cores started to work fine but today when i turned ON my pc again only one core is working..

I checked it using CPUz, Core Temp and i also used MScofig.exe and they all showed that only one core is working. In task manager (Set affinity) option is also disappeared. So what should i do now???

Solution
Hold Windows Key then 'X' together, click on run, dialog box pops up then type in 'msconfig'. Go to boot tab, click on advanced options, click on box next to "Number of processors" so it becomes a tick, click the drop down arrow right underneath and click on the max cores for your CPU.

Click ok, click apply, then click ok again and restart your PC. Sometimes we forget to even click 'apply', could be a simple thing overlooked especially if there's a bit of a panic having gone through the slog of a new OS install, best to go through it by the book and make sure.

Another way would be to go into your BIOS, and see if there's an option to enable all cores there. What model is your motherboard? This can happen with new windows...
