CPU freeks out and loops

I was wondering if this probolem has affected anyone else? Any input would be helpful.

I am running a Duron750 on an Asus A7V. I have recently started overclocking this peticular CPU. Everything has been running great at 950MHz.

I bought a peltier and a water cooling system to try and push a little more speed out of the CPU. Once I hit 1GHz the computer would not turn on so back down to 950MHz I went (figured it was this peticular CPU's limit). Everything was working fine again at 950 but now once or twice a day odd things start happening.

The computer acts like a keyboard key is stuck. Once it was the "B" key another time it was the "Backspace" then "F" then "K" and so on... there is no sound like the "I'm holding down a key BEEPs". If I do a soft reset it still continues until I do a COLD boot. I think I fried something in the CPU (oh well, only $60).

I have tried a different keyboard.
This computer runs 24/7 (seti@home)

never had that particular prob before....BUT i dont think anythings fried, i just think thats a peculiar heat prob. often very very wierd things happen when things are too hot and this is one of them...either lower the speed of the proc or get better cooling

interesting problem though

Overheating can basically cause random errors and problems. The computer just gets "confused". Try to lower it a bit more and see if it runs stable there. If it does, then you can get a better cooler and keep playing with it.

Using a peltier with any current AMD processor is not a very good idea, because of the heat that it builds up, you need a very powerful peltier.

So even if you are not overclocking now, you should remove the peltier and use just watercooling, because the peltier adds a huge amount of heat.

Remember what happens if you turn off the peltier...

Thanks for the input....

I really don't think this is a heat related probolem. The CPU is at 25c right now, that 13c less than when I use my FOP-32.

I plan on re-installing W2K next week and will give the system a compleate run down. If this does not fix my probolem then I might try another $60 Duron750.

:)
