Is it a safe bet to buy the 3900XT tomorrow and will it fine for 5 years gaming with a 3080.

Do you use a 1440p or 4k monitor?

At higher resolutions you don't need a high end cpu, the 3600x would produce the same framerates at 4k as a 3900x.

I am thinking of buying a 1440p monitor like the Rog 1ms one to match it. to tell you the truth I kinda need help with a whole build.

AMD is coming out with it's next gen of CPUs in a month or so, possibly with a 5% bump in clock speeds, and a 10% jump in IPC....

Currently, the 3900X offers next to nothing over/above the 3700X, so, IMO, you'd be paying extra for unused cores/threads...

I'd either wait, or get a 3600/3700...

(No one can give a 5 year 'you'll be fine assurance, but, you'd 'probably be fine'....or I'll refund your money!)
