Hello, i have HP Pavilion gaming laptop for one mounth now here are the specks:
Intel i5 8300H ( undervolted -120, turbo boost limited to 3.3 )
Nvidia Gtx 1050 ti 4GB ( undervolted -35 )
8gb RAM
When i am playing Dirt 3 on battery on high settings the CPU and GPU go up to 65C and the CPU frequency is 808mhz, the game runs perfect and the laptop does not heat.
When i am playing the same game with my charger plugged in, the CPU goes strait to 3.3GHz (max turbo boost) and stays there all the time while playing, and my CPU and GPU go up to 84C. If i am not playn games the CPU have normal frequency it is not stuck on max turbo boost.
I alredy check the power plan for the GPU it is set to balanced for battery and for plugged, i updated my bios, i dont know what else to try.
I think that it is not normal that the CPU rans on 808mhz on battery and max turbo boost when plugged in for the same game, same work load.
I am using throttlestop for my undervolt, with 2 profiles for battery and power witch are basicly the same, i have the same options, speed shift EPP is set to 128 for bouth of them.
Any idea? Advice? Are welcome.

It is a feature, not a bug.

To make your CPU run your games underclocked (no idea why anyone would want that ever but w/e), you should edit your power properties and select max power savings when plugged in.

In addition, you can download Real Temp and tick the box DISABLE TURBO thus causing yr CPU to never turbo again.

In any case, laptops are not optimum gaming platforms and you should always game on a desktop instead if feasible.

My power properties are set one step higher than max power saving for battery and plugged in, i can disable turbo boost from my throttlestop as well, but i do not want to do that i am only limiting the turbo boost so my laptop will not overheat, my consern is why the CPU needs to be on max turbo for all cores while plugged in when to run that same game on battery it needed only 880mhz. Becouse of that the laptop is heating up.

Solution, unplug your laptop and the cpu shouldnt turbo. My 8300h runs at 2.3ghz base clock nomatter what without charger plugged in. It will turbo to over 4.0ghz with charger plugged in, doubling its cinebench score.
Yes, but it is doing this only when i am gaming not during idle, if i unplug i can play for maybe one hour and than i need to plug it in, like i said in the previus replay my consern is why the CPU needs to be on max turbo for all cores while plugged in when to run that same game on battery it needed only 880mhz.
