Hi, I have the i5-6500 and the asus h110m-c motherboard. Been looking to upgrade my cpu for a while now. When looking to upgrade my cpu to an i7-7700k i was told I had to do something with my bios and I am really confused. With the asus h110m-c motherboard, can i upgrade to the i7-7700k without buying a new motherboard?

Solution
Yes. What you are being told to do with your BIOS is update it. This page -- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-C/HelpDesk_CPU/ shows minimum BIOS version required for your proposed CPU upgrade: version 3016. This page -- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-C/HelpDesk_BIOS/ shows the newest BIOS for your motherboard is 3805 -- WAY newer than 3016 which was released in Jan 2017.
According to the manual, your motherboard has a feature called "EZ Flash 3" Chapter 2 in your user's manual explains how to update your BIOS.

can i download and update the bios off of of this website: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110M-C/HelpDesk_CPU/ . where it says i7-7700k do i just update the bios? also it is okay to update by bios for a new processor? it won't be bad or anything right? Will I be able to use my current cpu when upgrading the bios?
Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate your help.

You SHOULD user your current CPU to do a BIOS update. Your motherboard, can update the BIOS if you have an ethernet cable plugged in when you go to the update utility. You don't have to download anything, it will take care of it for you. Look at chapter 2 in your user's manual.
