Hi everyone,

I just built a new rig and I'm having some overheating problems. The setup has a MSI z690-A mobo, an i9 12900k (12th gen LGA1700) and a Cooler MasterLiquid ML240L v2 ARGB.

The issue is that when I turn on the computer and enter the BIOS I see that the temperature is at 100 C (after aprox 1min) and I get a warning of overheating before the PC shut down. I already remounted the CPU refrigeration (it looks like it was okay).

My point is: is it normal that just by entering the BIOS the CPU is already so hot? Maybe a faulty component in the setup? In addition, yesterday I managed to install Windows on it, and it seemed like everything was going fine, but today there's no way to even start it up.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Please parse the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Second, add images of your build so we can verify that the orientation of the fans and the AIO are in the right order. Third, for your i9, you should've looked into a 360mm AIO at the very least.

Thanks for the welcome 😊
