CPU suddenly very hot

I remember a time (about a month ago) when my CPU would never, ever succeed 60°C, even in intense gaming.
Now, my CPU sometimes IDLES at about 75°C. I can't even dare to play games for over an hour anymore.
I only got my CPU for Christmas and I don't want it to expire so quickly.

Does anyone know what is actually happening? Do I need to replace my thermal paste or CPU fan? Before you ask, my fan is the default AMD one shipped, but it shouldn't really be a problem, since an acquaintance has the same CPU + CPU fan and his temperatures never pass 64°C.

1) Clean out everything. Using compressed air dust out the CPU fan and heatsink, case fans and anywhere else heavy dust is collecting.

2) Take off the fan/heatsink and wipe off the old thermal paste with a non lint cloth (like a coffee filter) and rubbing alchohol and re-apply thermal paste.

3) make sure all your fans are working and the fan/heatsink is seated right.

To answer all of your solutions and questions:
The RPM currently ranges from 3068 - 3309RPM.
I dusted the heatsink and fan about a week ago.
When I dusted the heatsink and fan, it seemed to be in place.
I guess I will try replacing the thermal paste as soon as I can.

My CPU is currently 74.5°C, and I'm not doing anything.

Open the case while the system is running and look to see if the fan is actually spinning. I have seen fan failures that will still post false RPM readings to monitoring software. A good thermal paste is a great place to start and IMHO should always be used in place of the iffy stuff that is shipped on CPU's and heatsinks. Also an aftermarket heatsink is a great investment as even a low cost aftermarket cooler will provide considerably better cooling than the stock AMD cooler.

my core are at 34 celcius now on a amd stock cooler just by using the mx-4 thermal paste your 74 on idle is to high check your fan and what kind of case you got and witch tyhe fan blow or take air out of her
