CPU throtles down, temperature is fine.

Hey,
I have an AMD FX 8120 on an Asus M5 A97 motherboard. CPU cooler is a Corsair Hydro (its good, the temperature stays way below 40 degrees.

Before the new cooler, the CPU overheated like hell and throtled down.
Now, it does not overhead (not even close), but it still throtles down.
After some reading, I cleaned and re-applied thermal paste on northbrdige/southbridge "just in case", but this changed nothing.
I know the motherboard is cheap, and I will change it, but id rather not spend money on it, so I`m hoping that maybe the problem is now its software related?
Also the graphic card does not overheat, i double checked.

You could have a bad cpu have you tried running prime95? I had a problem with an Intel cpu that would have trouble with high loads so when I ran prime95 it would freeze my pc I sent it back they tested it and said it was faulty

I will run prime95 and post results.
I should mention that in 3 years, my computer never froze because of the CPU.

Only software options I can think of are the power options in windows if it might be on power saving?

Back from prime after 5 minutes... nothing happened, 0 errors.

Mine worked after 5 minutes but but wouldn't stay on longer than 30 minutes try again for longer to fully test the stability
