I have a desktop that was built in 2012. I do some video game recording and editing with it but I've noticed that it's starting to not be able to handle what I'm doing.
I wanted to know if I could upgrade my CPU and keep my motherboard or if I would need to upgrade both.
This is the motherboard: 1 x ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
This is my current CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge Quad-Core 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K
I have 16GB of DDR3 Ram
I also have a SSD hard drive and a regular harddrive that I mostly use for storage.
This is my video card: 1 x XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video ...
Can anyone give me some advice on whether or not I can upgrade to an i7 and whether or not I should? Also, any bottlenecks that I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance.
