CPU upgrade

Hi,

I have been thinking about upgrading the processor in my Asus G51VX laptop.

It has the Intel C2D P7350 2.0GHz in it, and has been struggling to keep up with the new kids.

So I was wondering if I could upgrade it to a C2D T9600 2.8GHz.

Also, If it can't run the T9600, could it run a P8700 instead?

If you are a gamer who likes new games(unlike me who can play Heroes3 and Baldur's Gate forever) the desktop is the way to go. Cheap and configurable.

I know I could sell it and build a desktop, but that wasn't my question..

really? it wouldn't be good if i upgraded from a 2.0 to at least 2.5 ghz?

I was considering to upgrade my laptop 1,66 Core2Duo T5500. Then i gave up that idea

im not sure you will be able to, as laptop cpu's are usually soldered into place.
even if you can upgrade your gonna have cooling issues and very little in the way of gaming performance increase.
so my opinion. more trouble than its worth.

well i had a look and you can remove the cpu. but still the cooler will be a problem as its likely to be built to the cpu's spec and wont have much overhead for a faster cpu..
really m8 if you want to play games you need a £350 desktop minimum even at that price you will be guaranteed at least x2 the performance of the lappy.

I asked for answers to my questions, not opinions.

This thing plays games pretty well, and is obviously a gaming laptop with a gtx 260 in it.

I know all about the better performance desktop vs laptop. I've had many desktops, but I keep a laptop for a reason.
