CPU usage at 100% while watching streaming videos

Whenever I try to watch streaming videos online on my dell dimension 2350 my CPU usage would go up to 100%. The video would play like it's in slow motion and the audio would be a few seconds ahead. The weird thing is that my computer doesn't seem to have any problem playing videos that I've downloaded. I know for sure that my internet is not the problem because this is only happening on this one computer. I bought a video card (visiontek 7k 64mb), cpu (Pentium 4 2.4ghz northwood) and added 1 gig of ram but that didn't seem to do anything. Can someone please help me figure out what's wrong with my computer?

Nothing's wrong, really.

The problem is that the hardware is a decade old (technology wise) and can't really handle streaming. Trust me, I have an Athlon XP 3000+ machine with a MUCH better video card than you have (both around the same age tech wise as what you have) as a backup system, and it can't handle streaming either. It barely plays 360p YouTube and can't handle live streams well at all. It's like watching a slide show. I do have Win 7 on that machine, though, so it would probably fare a bit better with XP.

Hey there, it looks like your problem has been sorted. I don't mean to create more confusion, but I have a similar P4 cpu with 512 mb ram. But I am not facing any problem. In my opinion, there must be some problem in your driver. Do try reinstalling them, its worth a shot. :)
