So in the last few days when I try to log into the university wifi, I notice it redirects a page which says "Proof of work required. Please wait". After a google search I gathered that coinhive.com is a cryptominer website which mines for Monero using browser resources.
I don't think this is cool at all since the wifi on campus is supposedly 'free' and even mentioned as one of the facilities provided to students who choose to stay in campus. Even though the impact on my hardware is practically negligible, I don't feel like the IT dudes at university are being upfront about what they do with the network.
How can I bypass/ block this and still be able to access the wifi since it uses a captive portal which redirects through the coinhive website. Any suggestions/ discussions are appreciated.
