[citation][nom]Rodmantis[/nom]In what quality and resolution does PS3 and XBOX run, Gamer, Advanced or Hardcore?[/citation]
Well, rez-wise it runs at whatever your TV is. 1080P is most common. Settings wise...neither! The Gamer setting on the PC is way more detailed than the 360(only other one I've played), even though people on here seem to say otherwise... I have played both in 1080P and PC takes the gold.
If we were to label what setting level the console is, I would say "basic". No means trashing it!!! Crysis 2 is the best looking 360 game I've ever seen! But just wait until the DX11 patch comes out and we can enable tesselation on the PC! CONSOLES BE DAMNED!!!

Given that Tom is benchmarking the game using the demo, I'm guessing that the Crysis 2 demo will be close to the same, graphically, as the final release.

The multiplayer demo was indeed fun, but if genuine pc graphics options and direct X 11 are not added to the game, I won't be buying it. It's not worth paying for something that feels and essentially is a console port.

The multiplayer has some tweeking to do anyway. Without giving away multiplayer tactics, some nano suit gameplay styles are WAY too overpowered compared to others.

[citation][nom]stiehl[/nom]level system = codkill cam = codload outs = codmedals = codxp system = codspawn system = codlevel design = codkill streaks = codif you disregard the different graphic styles, crysis 2 and cod are the exact same multiplayer game except for one difference. A nanosuit.[/citation]
Why not just say "FPS = COD"? Unless you have de-compiled the maps and spawning system you have no idea if it is the same system, and there are only a hand full of ways to deal with spawning (including set locations and user based) which has nothing to do with COD but games in general. Many other games have an xp system. Also how do you claim level design? Have you compared layouts of each map from both games and have found the same paths and choke points in each game? I dont mean having paths and choke points that are put into place for a design and gameplay reason, because this is just something every game level should have.

Even if they took a few pointers from COD, making games unfortunately is a business. You do what will both make gamers happy and make you as much money as possible. So if that means doing the same style stuff as another game to help ensure it will sell without harming the gameplay or design then why not?

You are generalizing way too much. Loadout/kill streaks/spawn are similar to CoD. Like I already said, killstreaks in CoD were so easy to get and it was boring. Crysis's killstreaks are harder to obtain because of the nanosuit your opponents have as well. I have MW/MW2/WaW, I'm pretty sure I know how Cod plays out. Go read supertreks post on the 3rd page, it pretty much reflects how I see Crysis 2 Vs Cod. Cod = camp fest, Crysis = run and gun, tons of action + stealth/strategy with the suit. Practically every other FPS have a leveling up system as well. Battlefield does this as well, it's just a derivative of the FPS genre, not limited to one game. Just like regenerative health started with Halo and made it into almost every FPS game nowadays.

Yes, I've played the demo and its essentially another crappy console port. I still frown at the new game vs Crysis Warhead. It makes me feel as if I'm playing COD again on the Xbox with the not so techie friends.

I would love for some improved graphics but I understand we'll have to wait for some patches :pfff:

[citation][nom]kcorp2003[/nom]I still have to download their demo....but so far, everyone is saying its a let down. (perhaps copying CoD?)But its nice to see hardware performance. however its Dx9.[/citation]

I played it at PAX and had alot of fun. It's similar to COD in that you get something special for multiple kills but doing so happens less often than it does in COD. I personally found it way more fun than everyone has made it out to be.

"Improved" isn't the word I would use for multiplayer, smoothness is the ONLY thing that got better, as for everything else that made Crysis wars fun? IT all got removed for the console version to be more compatible.

really, why bother with low res, low detail, tests at all? this ain't the place. Show up high detail, high res, AA + AF with various GPU AND CPUs! Why use an i5 ? Show me the top 2 or 3 intel and AMD CPUs.

While that would be interesting and fun for the top techies in us, the reason is to let the other 95% that they can play it and what level they can expect to play. I can't help to wonder just how much that will change when the patches take effect...

I don't think you know what you're talking about. The new Sandy Bridge-based i5 is probably the second fastest gaming CPU you can buy, only slightly (very slightly) beat by a Sandy Bridge-based Core i7.

[citation][nom]rohitbaran[/nom]Well, so the 1 million grant from nVidia to Crytek was indeed to make the game run faster on Geforce cards.[/citation]

no, the $1 million was because Nvidia loved the Crytek logo

[citation][nom]rizlla[/nom]I'll be waiting to hear some feedback from others about the games before buying it, but first I must get Dragon Age 2.[/citation]
don't bother, i wish i wouldn't have wasted my money on that game. Visuals are cool but after a while its same old thing over and over. I liked the first one much better. Wait for the new elder scrolls

The multiplayer is like an mix between Halo and CoD.
And the only good multiplayer CoD is Modern warfare 1 and world at war.
Botk Black ops and Modern warfare 2 is unbalanced.
The Halo part is the "Special stuff" like holograms.
But SP sounds nice from an place that have played the full game.

Every one of you complaining because they tailored this game to consoles are hypocrites. If i was in their shoes i would do the same. If you read any of the articles about the game, they stated the reason they did it that way is because the PC game was pirated way to much, digging into their profits. Our console gaming cousins are too lazy to steal games and just pay the $60 for it. Us PC gamers have dug our own grave. Now i know that not everyone is guilty of pirating, but the numbers shows. Starcraft has been pirated more times then the numbers of games sold. What does that tell you? crysis 2 is going to follow suit. If you want companies to cater only to the PC world, then stop stealing games and pay the $60. I am happy to give these companies my $60 for the amount of time and effort in creating these games. I would even pay $100 for it. If you ever had any experience in graphics design or game design, you would understand. My experience is only limited to the Oblivion mod, and i couldn't tell you how many weeks upon weeks i spent just to create a house in the woods for my character.

Am I the only one wondering why two GeForce 460's in SLI are actually slower than one by itself? I'm guessing that maybe the charts got them reversed.

Read the article: the SLI driver was not ready.

I tried it out on my laptop which has a PhenomII X4 and a HD5650. Ran it on 1024X600 at Gamer settings, and it still looked freaking amazing. It also managed a decently smooth play - which was something I didn't expect.

Looking at the charts, it looks like Crysis2 has something for almost every hardware. Good job to the development team for spending time to optimize the game.

If the demo doesnt have DX 11... Highly doubt game will have DX 11 features. You might run it in DX11 but you wont see any visual difference.

I gave up on promises a long time ago...
