On my last vacation I understand that Germans have politeness issues...

might come from that lol

relax guys, this is just an other failed attempt of the traditional "ol' fashion" generation known as the baby boomers tryin to make a last stand against the worlds progression...the new generation of politicions that are arnt 80 yrs old will fill the old with refreshed visions of how technology and freedom can make this world better. Censorship is the worst path, because naturally people will rebel and cause unnecessary conflict..its just human nature...

I think it was the ability to shoot chickens in Crysis that pushed the discussion over the edge. Popping North Koreans and aliens is one thing but blasting chickens with a shotgun up-close is something else entirely. Or grabbing one and throwing it against the wall. I haven't checked if frags blow chickens apart. Probably.

It's a good thing there weren't any video games before WWII... who knows what would have happened in Germany if there had been

/sarcasm off

[citation][nom]ajcroteau[/nom]Hmm... i wonder what character Adolph Hitler played in World of Warcraft... I'm thinking... death knight...[/citation]
Death Knights are too new for Hitler...why not a dwarf mage?

"Parents need to be the censorship for children, not a government."

Yeah, but that doesn't buy you votes when working FOR the government. The same Nanny state politicians in the US are guilty of this far too well.

It's obvious this is because of the Third Reich era of Germany's history. Those politicians over there don't want them getting any ideas in their heads that harken back to those days. Yet meanwhile nearly the rest of the developed world is engaged in violence against other people to further their own agendas, and that's ok.

Im German, so let me declare the situation.

FIRST of all:
PLEASE dont say such things like: "They [Germans] have the most violent past in history!"
Thats right on the one hand. Yes, the past was cruel, and what THEY did, the people who lived in this time and made this cruel things happen, wasnt right.
BUT the most peoble living today are not spoiled by the National Socialism. Yes there is a National Socialist Party. And there are people electing them. But we try to ban those Parties, but we a frightened they go underground, and then they wouldnt be under control.

But I give you my Word that 99 Percent of the German people are not National Socialists.
And I am also sure that also in the USA ore GB are National Socialists.

But...back to topic:

First there were in 2002, 2006 and 2009 young men and pupils which ran amok. Some our politician think that violent computer games are the reason why this people did that.
In Germany we have one of the most rigorous law for the protection of children and youth. But they think that they have to control everything and everyone. They started to censor the internet!
