Is there any difference? I have been using D3D but switched to OGL because someone said it looks better?
I doubt it makes a huge difference in such an old game I was just always curious.
If one mode looks better than the other I'd be interested in why... I have a radeon 9800@9800pro speeds fyi if that matters on which mode to run also.

Thanks in advance!

I have this feeling that for Counter-Strike that OpenGL might be the better option. I'm not 100% sure, but here is my reasoning. Counter-strike is a Half-Life Mod. Half-Life was built from the original Quake Engine. The Original Quake Engine used only OpenGL back when the GLQuake was popular. So, I'm thinking that Half-Life might be better optimized for OpenGL. I could be wrong though.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

thx, btw do you have any headphone suggestions? I had the $100 digital plantronics but they broke... i'm looking at koss but dont know alot about whats good and whats not.

Run in opengl
About the headphones... there's a post in the "peripherals-other" section if you care to take a gander. Those new Zalman headphones look really nice though =).

CS will generally run better in OpenGL as UFO pointed out. As for headphones if you are a true CS geek, Plantronics have CS Headsets 😀

CS is definitely better in OpenGL. A lot of people report having problems getting CS to run in D3D (myself included).

Headphones: Sennheiser makes great phones. Check them out.

Also, I've heard a lot about the Grado SR-60 phones.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

Kind of strange now that, the New Half-Life 2 SOurce Engine is DirectX only.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Funny thing is, my cs use to run in d3d but all of the sudden it wont let me, and it runs in ogl now. Before when it ran in d3d it was nice and smooth, no lag, but when it switched to ogl i started to lag like mad o.o neone know why? And my graffics card is horrible........default windows expresschip or something >.>

haha, it cracks me up when people ask post in threads that haven't been touched in years and actually think those posters (from 6 years in the past) are going to respond. My coworkers were probably wondering what i was laughing at. Do you still get email notification after 6 years that your thread has been responded to? ...damn 6 years is a long time ago, no coworkers in my life back then, now i feel old...
