Question Custom Resolution

So i have a problem.... i had a adapter from VGA to Display Port but after my house power failure it was working/not working like losing signal and i just dumped it.... And my screen was set on custom resolution.... from 1440x900 to 1920x1080.... but after that i have been using HDMI adapter and i can't do that anymore... it says "out of range" when i do horizontal or vertical pixels over 1... tried lowering Refresh rate, no luck.... It means i need to buy a new Display Port adapter...? Is it my only option? My GPU is GTX 1060 6gb, the GPU is fine...

So what happens when you start in safe mode and set the resolution there to the default one for the screen and then reboot?
