I have an old box with a Cyrix 6x86MX PR233 processor in it and it locks up all the time and/or reboots itself and/or gets blue screens. If I put an old Pentium 120 processor in it, all is well. I want to use the Cyrix cause it's faster. I have read about a bug called "coma bug" in some of the Linux postings and they have some startup files for Linux that make changes to the processor register so it will work. Question: Does anyone know of a program that I can run when my Windows XP starts to do the same thing? I'm sure there is a way to do this. I am not a programmer but knowledgeable on PC's. If I were to perform this mod and still had problems, I would assume that my Cyrix processor was defective. The constant crashing renders the system useless.
thanks in advance for any leads,
Robert
