DD-WRT Linksys wrt54g AP dying?

I have an old linksys WRT54g router set up as AP with DDWRT and connected to my main router via powerline. Recently the router's internet has been cutting in and out and being slower or faster at sometimes. I think it may be dying. I am plugged in to the AP using ethernet and when i ping it, it says destination host unreachable, or occasionally, request timed out. When I go to 192.168.1.1 in chrome it says ERR_ADRESS_UNAVAILABLE. I did try restarting it, several times. I don't want to reset it because I have a lot of settings changed, and it will most likely end up doing this again. Is there anything I can do to fix it or is it dying?

You could try a reboot, and/or reflashing the firmware.

If neither of those work, this is more than likely a hardware issue, and the AP is dying. WiFi gear has a finite lifespan for sure.

I ran a windows diagnostics test, and found out its an invalid IP configuration. Not the first time this has happened, anyone have any ideas as to why?

That's presumably because the main router isn't able to communicate with you, so it isn't able to give you an IP address.

Replaced the external brick power supply and my intermittent problems went away.
