Hello,

I'm building my first pc and this are my key parts (I'll overclock):
-Z370 MSI Gaming pro carbon
-i7 8700K delid
-RTX 2080

I'm looking to buy the RAM but I don't know which one to pick.

The cheapest 3000Mhz and 3200 Mhz modules I found are both Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB):
-3200Mhz C16: 130€
-3000Mhz C15: 115€

If there's a noticeable performance benefit I'm totally fine to spend 15€ more.
Consider that I'll overclock the ram (or at least try to do it lol, I've never done it).
I'll mainly play 1080p games at the highest refrash rate possible (if it matters)

Which one would you pick and why?

Thanks!

Faster latency is better for gaming while higher clocks are better for production.

Between the two go with the DDR4 3000 kit.

As was said you won't notice the difference.

OCing the ram is a waste of time, just enable XMP in the bios.

I go with CL 14 or 15 for gaming memory personally, running CL 14 currently. The cost is higher though.

Yeah if I want to get a 3200 CL14 it's like 190€.
Why is OCing the ram a waste of time?

RAM is heavily binned (separated by how well it performs). Typically if a kit was capable of running significantly faster, it would have been sold as a higher speed kit.

If you enjoy OCing you can certainly try it, I just wouldn't necessarily expect to get a whole lot out of it.
