Hi,
I've very recently bought an Alienware Aurora r3 while they had a sale going, 500 bucks off or so, specs are

Intel Core i7-2600K Overclocked at 4.1GHz, 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz,AVDT, Dual 2 GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6950, 2TB SATA 6Gb/s,7200RPM

I skipped the optional 8 GB 1600MHz, as they were very rudely priced
(and I'll be taking care of the SSD myself as well)

I'm looking into this memory:
Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB 2X4GB DDR3 1866MHZ PC3-15000 9-11-9-27 1.65V XMP Ready Desktop Memory Kit

there's a pretty good deal going on at ncix

what would you guys recommend?

I wouldn't pay a big premium for ram. Pull one of the ram sticks and see what brand it is. Dell can be as picky as some asus boards. I would only use 1.5v ram unless your old ram is 1.65v. Most Intel boards use 1.35-1.5v ram now. Also check your motherboard bios for ram adjustments. You may not be able to adjust your ram above 1.5v.
