Hello,
my hard drive stopped working, I put in a new one but now I would like to get the information off the old one. I was thinking to just connect the drive to the tower and pull what I need off is this possible?

Yes, that is how you do it. Depending on why it stopped working, you may or may not be able to recover files from it.
