Hey guys...When I stare very close to my monitor I see some strange mesh in the game or video but only in darker area...someone told me about "active matrix" I don't know anything about it..Any ideas? Anyone with same issue? And shifting between colors is terrible...black and grey...i calibrated but even than darker scenes in gaming are terrible... I'm guessing that another same monitor will be better...any opinions? tnx

hey!

I have the same monitor and ran into the same issue - funny thing, i was searching the web for answers too - is that a production error or is it the monitor itself? however, it is driving me crazy and I might call the Dell support soon ...

PLZ let me know when you contact Dell if is that normal!

Hey!

Just got off the phone - decided to call rather sooner than later.
The service guy was really nice and managed a replacement unit for me.
Should arrive early next week.

Seems to work out really well - I ordered through Amazon, called the Dell customer service and THEY are sending me a replacement, no costs ...

I'll let you know when my replacement ships - i'd suggest you get in contact with them as well.

Tnx men! let me know when arrives

Hey folks! Got my replacement unit today ...
It has the same color banding issue though :'(

In the meantime I've found out that there are already revision of this display, however when ordering you cannot specify if you want the base model or a revision. Please look at the back of your unit, there has to be a white sticker with a fairly large number on it. This number ends in A0X, where X stands for a number between 0 and 9. The base model is A00, which is what I got - also the replacement is an A00 ... Would be interesting whether there are A01 or A02s even without the color banding, I'm not going to find out however. I already ordered an ASUS RoG PG248Q, no 1440p display though, but I rather have no color banding than a couple more pixels ...

Hey folks!

I did some more testing, but I don't want to copy paste, so here is the link to the reddit article I've already posted to:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/5mjw9h/dell_s2417dgcolor_banding_in_games/

Good luck, and return your Dell S2417DG - it's garbage ... :'(
