Could someone please explain to me the difference between the following Sony 19" models:

The E440E and the E400P

The G400 and the G400P and the G420

Also, could you point me to a site that has tests of these models?

Thank you

As it seems no one knows the difference between the monitors mentioned above, I'll try this instead:

Obviosly the more expensive models will run a higher resolution at a higher refresh rate, but is this true for lower resolutions as well?

If I'll be running my desktop and games at 1080x1024 which Sony 19" monitor would you recommend, and why?

Besides the higher refresh rate, will the more expensive ones have better image quality?

Lastly; do you know of a site where I can read up on these issues?

Thanks.

Wow, nice monitor. .22 dp. Hard to argue with that. You will notice on lower resolutions a slightly better picture. Actually, these monitors are so nice now a days, unless you are running them side by side on identical software etc, you will never know the difference. If you want bragging rights, then go hard. If you want practical, you won't see a major difference at that resolution amongst them.

Thanks for the reply, but that that article is an almost one year old press release regarding the more expensive and (at least in my country) no longer available F420.

What I'm really looking for, are the differences between the G400 and the G420. What are your own experience with either, and do you know of a review that compares the two?

I don't have experience with either, though years ago I had the fortune of working for Sony. During this time a learned first hand what dedication to quality meant.
The only vasriations I can find between the 400 and the 420 is that the 420 has available 1600*1200 at 75hz refresh. And it has the dual mode input. In other words you can have your desktop plugged into the back, and plug a laptop into the front if you want to use a larger screen. At lower res these monitors should be identical.

Thanx for making look though, I just spent 5min wiping the drool off of my keyboard.

According to the link you posted, both the G400 and the G420 are able to run 1600x1200 at 85Hz. They both also have dual inputs.

Actually their specs are identical, even down to weight and dimensions.

Seems the only reason to go with the G420 is if you like the new design better. (I prefer the 'classic' design of the G400)

I am a bit worried though. On other sites I've seen posts from users that have had to return their G400's due to various faults. Among these, geometry issues - which my current 17" Sony Multiscan 200sx also suffers from.

So does anyone here own a G400 or a G420? What are your recommendations?

the only difference is the 420 is the successor to the 400, thus you're gonna pay a tad bit more. i'm going with the g400's

Just got myself a G420 a week ago.

It's resolutions and refresh rates are almost identical to the G400, but it's got a build in USB hub (4 in, 1 out), which is very nice.
