I'm trying to download directx 9.0a off the official website. When i download the first bit which is like a downloader or something and i accept the licence agreement then click next, an error comes up saying 'An internal error occurred. Please refer to directx.log in your Windows folder to determine problem'.
directx.log seems like just a load of bollocks to me so what can i do?
Thanks in advance for any help.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

i want 9.0a because it says it has fixes for issues with msn messenger and i have been having no end of problems with it.

cant say ive had any issues installing DX9.0a. then again i have had unexplaind hard locks when running at less than 1152x864 resolution in various games.... but that could also be an install issue.

My PC is so powerful it it makes a 286-16 look slow!

oh and if you want to download the whole thing without dealing with the stupid installer, click the link to get the full server version (or something like it).
Thats what i did.

The only one i can find that seems to download in full directly would be the one labelled 'DirectX 9.0a Redistributable for Software Developers'.Did you download that one?It is twice the size of the normal one for some reason.

Well the one i downloaded was 31mb... and it worked fine.
course might take a while with dialup :)

Many modern games must be played multiplayer. And those you encounter online are, almost as a rule, complete and utter cockmongers. :frown:

I just got that one.BUT when i extract it and run the dxsetup file, it says 'Current logon user doesn't have the administrator privilege. Please log on as an administrator or contact your PC administrator.'
I DO have administrator privileges as i set it as such and it says so in the 'users' section of the control panel (i am using xp pro with sp1).Even if i actually log in as the 'administrator' rather than me, it still says the same.
Any ideas?
