I started encountering an issue out of the blue where after a while where my discord push to talk sound just gets gradually more distorted until after about 5-10 seconds of this it cuts out completely and any time I press it it just stops making the sound from then on until I restart discord. This is accompanied shortly after by these in-game freezes that occur where the whole game freezes for ~1-2 seconds then resumes. It freezes like this several times before it stops, then starts again after some time. Interestingly, as far as I can tell it's only my game that's freezing and everything else is unaffected, stuff on 2nd monitor for example. Also when the push to talk sound begins degrading it doesnt actually affect discord and my audio (as well as my friend's) transmits fine and discord functions as normal.

I've tried several things to find a solution, I've monitored task manager on 2nd monitor while it's happening and nothing seems particularly abnormal. I've tried updating my nvidia graphics drivers and AMD chipset drivers. I've also tried turning off the power supply and unplugging the pc from the wall and waiting a bit before turning it back on. Replugging all cables. No difference in how the problem presents itself. As far as the context, I havent made any changes to my hardware or software, equally I havent had any updates for my game or discord, this started happening unprompted.

I truly have no clue what the deal is with this issue so any help is greatly appreciated. I've also created a dxdiag file, I can post it if there's a way but I cant find it. If you need any other information please let me know.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Also try using Resource Monitor to observe system performance in the same manner as you used Task Manager.

Look in Reliability History/Monitor for error codes, warnings, and informational events that occur just before or at the times of the described issues.

I've been having this same issue today while gaming, it also gradually increases the strain on my CPU starting at about 5%-15% up to about 40% when the push to talk button completely stops making sound

This same thing has started happening to me yesterday. The only difference is that I have not gotten any freezing (yet) in any game or in any program while this is happening.
