Disk dead, how to recover data

Ok...I have old 20gb IBM ATA drive...it's my storage place for my mp3 collection. Or rather it was. I can't access it. Well, it's visible in bios or in windows. But any try of copying anything from it, or just running any diag tool, ends with system reset.

The things on it are kinda priceless, like full Stones or Marillion discography and some other stuff, and rebuilding it would take some time

So...is there any chance for accessing this disk, rather then format/recover software?

Have you tried using Spinrite 6.0? It's not free software, but I'm sure that's not too huge a problem, especially if those files are important.
