Do I have to change the bios settings for a new power supply?

Hello there!

So, I recently bought an ATI HD4870, but it doesn't work with my 420w psu, so I'm going to change for a 580w psu, but I never switched a psu before...
In another post, I asked if a too powerful psu could damage the pc, but now I know that only bad psus do that.
So, my next question is: Do I need to change the bios settings for a new power supply?

simple answer NO

I have never seen a PC BIOS with a setting mentioning the PSU
(which is not to say no PC or Server has such a setting)

The closest a bios gets to interaction with the psu is the monitoring of its supply voltages.

Hmm, and do you do that?
I mean, in which section of the bios can I find that option?

I know of it an see it while I'm perusing the bios but I don't use it. As to where it can be found depends on the motherboard bios, it's under different names on different motherboards. But like I said, it's merely a monitoring tool, there's no settings to change.
