It's not hate, it's dislike. They remind me of Bose.

Products that are seemingly simple and great, yet overpriced and definitely not the best. Why people at school buy them, especially shuffles which sometimes cost nearly double for no LCD confuses me. I used a Mac, and while I personally find PCs better, all I really hate is their price and marketing ("Top 10 reasons to get a Mac" is a pretty funny read).

Shadow703793, I have that exact same Athlon XP 1800+ running a dual boot with XP and linux... :)
I think macs are wayyyyyyyyy over priced for what you get...you can build a pc for half the price and have it run on a dual boot with XP and linux...use the linux whenever your not gaming and use XP when you are...you get the best of both worlds!!! Linux is as safe (or safer) to use than macs, and like previous posters have said, macs are for ppl that have too much money on their hands and dont know how to use a pc...i simply pity them...

I don't mind Apple, kinda like the different feel and stuff... same with Linux.
I just can't stand the idiots that use them and say that they are better then Windows.

Apple sucks! what a load of rubbish with their gay over priced hardware. All the rich kids think having an ipod is soo cool, it sucks you cant even copy music from an ipod to a pc and itunes, daaamn i hate it. i have an archos 605 wifi which can do soo many more things. larger screen, plays back al your music needs, like wmv also you can use it like a portable hdd, drag and dropping all your files and music without a problem.

and apple macs biggest waste of money ever! just look at the price to a pc and you will see. £1100 for an apple macbook air, or what ever it is acooled. and you dont even get a dvd drive built in or a ethernet!

oh and the software sucks crack! its gay i hate it, people say its soo much faster than a pc with the same specs hahaha. you must be kidding me, its rubbish.

I HATE APPLE!

OMG.... its the next block buster hit(based on a true story) :)

i really don't like macs. i don't see the advantage to them. and what really bothers me is how alot of mac users feel that they're "superior" (oh please) to pc users. I was at best buy today, and one of the mac salespeople, who by the way obviously had no idea what she was talking about, was telling a fairly clueless man about how pc's crash constantly and how macs never crash. i'm sorry but that just simply isn't true.

Thats when you step in, and explain to the guy that the mac sales person is an idiot.

I think there are ways to run MacOS on a PC now, if you really want. Not official, of course. Sorry I don't remember any details...

LOL
osxxh7.jpg

and the lack of a TPM(trusted platform module) that makes osx run properly on a mac....well just delete the file for it and bang....works like a charm.....

Everyone at the gym works out with a giant brick of an ipod on their arm. They all look pretty stupid if you ask me. There's no way i could ever run or work out with one of those things weighing me down and getting in the way. The only ipod i would ever get is the shuffle but the Zen Stone and Zen Stone Plus are cheaper and better in my opinion.

The OS is ok but everything else about apple is awful IMHO.

Ya, I love the fact that I can run around the Gym with my headphones on and my mp3 player in my pocket with no cables as opposed to all the idiots wearing the scarlet letter that is the ipod. Not only is mine 10x more convienent, but if by some chances I hit or drop it I'm out $50, not $250.

I think any computer enthusiast should be happy that macs are around. I'm not speaking about the ads and the hype around iPod/macs, just macs as a computer company.

First they offer a very solid alternative for OS. Second their hardware are usually very well designed with quality and innovation in mind. The first time I opened a MacPro I was amazed how clean and nice the layout of component was done.

I love my PC. But as a computer geek, I also enjoy to see what a company like Apple can do.

Wow, a thread because of me! I almost feel honored!

I do not hate them for hardware they use (because they use IBM compatible now) or for the trendy looks or no upgradability, I hate them because of what many people have said before, I hate the people who think they are superior then PC users because they paid for an overpriced computer! I am sure that Mac OSX and whatever Leprosy OSX is great and all, but I just can't get use to them. And don't even try to troubleshoot one. I find it much easier to just buy a new one at work... although my boss is not a fan of that idea.

I also look at it like this. Microsoft is on their 6th OS. Apple is on their 10th or 11th OS. I am sure that when Microsoft makes their 10th or 11th Windows OS they will be far better than Apple's 10th and 11th OS. Sadly, most people overlook that.

My last rant for the night is that I really hope that as the Apple user group enlarges, the amount of viruses for Mac follows. I am tired of hearing Apple users say that they have better computers because they don’t have any issue or viruses. I am also a big reader of Maximum PC Magazine and just recently they posted an article that showed that Mac OSX Leprosy has more errors and or other issues per day then XP and Vista combined. I will be poring over my magazines to find this article to show that I am not all that crazy, just enough!

My rant is over tonight….. time for bed!

I couldn't find an appropriate checkbox, how unfortunate. I hate monopolies.

Apple is taking a good run at being the "only" legit supplier of digital music player tracks. Its proprietary format won't work with MP3 players (duh) and the popularity of Ipods is slowly eliminating competing sound track sources.

Of course illegal MP3's distribution probably rules the market, but that's certainly not doing anything to keep legit competitors in business.

And looking at it from the other angle...even if Ipod was superior and the slow "taking over the industry" wasn't an issue, Ipod owners would still be stuck buying their tracks from Apple only. That's just too much power to give a company over your personal choices. I'm not going to marry Steve Jobs any time soon, why would I make such a commitment to his company?

The first machine I ever used when I was 6 was a Macintosh and I can't say that I hate apple products, but
what I really hate are those Mac users that thinks that by owing a Mac the world evolves around them and they felt they're superior.
What I don't get these days is people coming in to the place at work with their new Intel Macs and they want to install XP. I mean why would someone go and get a Mac and want to install XP? Wasn't it because they thought windows sucks so that's why they went with a Mac in the first place? Now to install XP on a Mac does not make any sense. And this one person who I've meet that can be a disgrace and give Apple a bad name was, the bastard came in with a PC laptop and after his machine was fixed and for him to shut down the PC all he did was slammed the cover and thought by doing that the machine turns off. Then I've said that is not how you turn off Windows and he said with his Mac attitude, well with my Mac all I have to do is slam my cover and it turns off. What a moron and I hope his fu*kin screen cracks! Now I've know how these stupid Mac user really are and that's
1. They think their superior but in reality they have a mind of a guacamole.
2. You can install any crappy OS in a Mac and they still think it's the best.
Even if you install Microsoft BoB.

Now for those Mac users that know that their doing and does not think their superior, I respect you.

MAC FTL.

So what can a Mac do that PC can't?

And then.. What does a PC do that Macs can't?

If you can answer these questions, you know the truth.

I agree that Macs can be simpler, and can SEEM like less of a pain, but come on, if you can maintain your PC, you are golden.

Blah blah blah, editing, media, blah blah... Are you gonna tell me that a PC can't edit video and audio? For the price of a mac, it could do it damn fast...

More secure? Psssh, once again, if you have half a brain and get some securities, your good. I have Zone Alarm Security Suite, and I don't even touch my crap. With auto scans and such, hassle free and virus/spyware free.

I'll give em one thing. There is less of a range of performance difference within a mac generation, while PCs range from crap to obscenely superfluously, brutally fast.

But come on... PCs are generally cheaper, and unless you are pushing some hard data, the average Joe won't notice the difference in speed. And if you jack of a PC to mac price, you got a winner, a beast...

I could go on and on, but here on tom's, I'd just be preachin to the choir.

Oh, and yea, so many mac fools I know, are arrogant.

I hate Apple for calling their machines "Macintoshes" instead of "Granny Smiths." I personally preferred the latter, anyway. I mean, green apples make for MUCH better pies than red ones, at least in my opinion. Red apple pies just almost seem weird.

Some of the comments are priceless...
Wow, OS X has the highest pecentage of remote exploits! But that's the highest percent out of the smallest number. Do the math, 61% of 36 exploits is 21.96 exploits. Compared to Xp's 48% of 46 exploits, which is 22.08 exploits. If you do the math for both types of exploits on each OS, you'll find that OS X has the fewest across the board.
This was so hilarious that I nearly crapped myself.

Very likely. Companies tend to do that.

I have checked into it. It is not ready for primetime.

What I would really like is a 2.0 ghz Mac Mini for $300, and one of this new aluminum wireless keyboards. It works great for everything but games. Not worth $800 +$79 for the keyboard though.

Amazon.com is now selling MP3 files online. I think Steve Jobs should be worried about this. Too bad Amazon only sells them to people in the USA. It's kind of silly, they are happy to accept my credit card and mail me CDs to Canada, but they wouldn't let me just download the same songs as mp3. Anyway, I hope iTunes will soon have some competition.

I have had an Ipod Mini for a few years. It works ok. I really hate Itunes though, and how it nags me to update all the time. Seems like the newer version is clunkier and funkier and more difficult to use each time. Hate it.
