I currently have an old and slow FX6300 but if I had say a last generation i7, would it make up speed for my HDD's? Or would the pc speed be limited(bottlenecked) by the HDD's?
it depends on what you want to do. If you want to get short boot times and short load times in games an i3 paired with an ssd is very fast.
if you want want fast rendering (for editing or gaming) and i5 or i7 paired with a regular 7200 or 5400rpm hdd will suffice. combinging a fast cpu with an ssd will ofcourse deliver the best results!
