Does a retention bracket(e.g ocz force, xigmatek crossbow)_make a diff

i have an ocz vendetta 2 and im only using the push pins, i dont like push pins but my dad wont let me install a backplate becuase he thinks i will break my computer, does it improve the performance or not?

If the pushpins are installed properly, no. However, because the HSF's are larger and heavier than the stock Intel heatsinks, the backplates add a measure of security. You certainly do not want one of these HSF's pulling loose and falling onto the video card during operation or while moving the PC.

so it would be worth having to take my mobo out to get the backplate to keep it more safe?
