Me and my mates regularly have our own mini lan parties, and when they are at my house I set us all up on the net using my router (4 port 10/100Mb Switch). At anyone elses house we use a 5 port 10Mb hub. The last one at my house consisted of 4 PCS, 3 of which were on XP and 1 on Win 2000 Pr (mine). The problem is that whilst in some games we can play on lan perfectly (All Half-Life Mods, UT2003) opthers everyone else is able to play on but I simply cant see the server (Q3, RTCW, JK2, BHD, Raven Shield, MOHAA). Someone suggested that this could possibly be because they used different protocals that win 2000 Pro simply cannot support. However all of the computers can see all servers on the 5 port Hub and for this reason I believe this has to be a win 2000 Pro incompatibility with my router (Linksys BEFSX41. We all work fine on any other games either just on lan or an internet server, and we can all ping each other and all see each other's files, its just the server. does anyone know how I can solve this problem and whether or not it is caused by the OS. Perhaps updating the firmware on the router might help??
