I have an extremely old laptop with a chipset that lacks a heatsink or mounting point. It is located directly under the laptop keyboard, separated by a thermal pad.

I plan to attach a copper heatsink on top of it using thermal silicone adhesive. I need to remove the keyboard, as it is broken and nonfunctional anyway.

Can I use copper heatsink that's intended for Raspberry Pi? since I there's only aluminum on the market.

Make, model and SKU of your laptop? If you have images showing how much clearance you have between the chipset and the underside of the laptop(it's bottom cover) then perhaps you could shoehorn a chipset heatsink but please be warned...I've seen some old laptops being made to run Windows 10 on them and the chipset was the thing that always ended up being hot, as they usually lack any form of airflow, passive or active cooling.

Images or links to the heatsink would help us two fold.
