[SOLVED] Does win 10 will be activated after upgrading?

I'm currently running win 7 pro on my computer and I want to upgrade to win 10. (win 7 is activated)
Will the windows 10 be activated after updating form win 7 with Media creation tool or do I need a key?

Try it and report back.
Theoretically windows 10 could be activated using windows 7 key. Not sure, if that still works.

it does i actually just had to upgrade 6 pcs to windows 10 that were 7. i know this is not related but im trying to figure out a way to make a clone of one machine and just boot that image up on the next computers from a usb...

Ignore that.
Windows key may be embedded in BIOS of brand name pc or laptop, if pc/laptop is sold with windows preinstalled. Retail motherboards would not have it.
