Dos Compatability mode?

I see in my computer that some of my drives are using Dos compatablity mode-

What does this mean?

What can be done to change to a possibly faster mode?

load the protected mode drivers...what mobo, cpu are you using?

My system is from Axis and I have a 450MHZ PIII.

Reload your bus master drivers, Intel, VIA, or Ali, whichever applies to your mainboard.
Easiest way is to remove the hard disc controller from device manager and reboot...
