Hi Folks, Thinking about upgrading to windows xp either by purchasing the upgrade version, or possibly buying a new computer with xp loaded from factory. My question is: Will i be able to install and use my old dos accounting programs( First Choice) on windows xp? Second question, if i buy the upgrade version, can i use my partition commander to install win xp on a different partition of the same drive as win 98se or will i have to purchase the full version?
Thanks for your help in advance.. JW

I believe you'll have to get the full version because then you'll dual boot and with the upgrade, well you can merely upgrade your win98 to winXP

you might have to install win 98 on the other partion then upgrade over it

QUOTE: One of the biggest questions … about the Upgrade versions of XP is whether they can be used to perform a clean install, where the hard drive of an existing PC is wiped out, and XP is installed from scratch. Yes, you can do this. However, at some point during Setup, XP will ask you to insert a qualifying media to ensure that you qualify to use the upgrade in this manner. This must be a retail Windows 98, 98 SE, Millennium Edition (Me)...Upgrade or Full version. ... As long as you have this, you can perform a full install with an Upgrade version. And if you do qualify for the upgrade, but want to do this, be sure to save $100 and get the Upgrade, rather than Full version. And don't toss out that old Windows CD-ROM; you never know when you might need it.
