Double Screen Issue

I decided I wanted to get double monitors so I had extra screen space to things while streaming, gaming etc. I'm using a GTX 1080 and it only has 1 HDMI port so that's plugged into my main monitor. I purchased this display port > HDMI lead for my second monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017Q8ZX1O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I can't get my PC to detect the second monitor. Any help would be great, thanks.

I forgot to mention the second monitor is a Blaupunkt TV

it should work out of the box after you enable in windows the second output, have you done that on here?

the the adapter, or the cable are not working properly, can you connect hdmi to the monitor directly?

if it works, you ruled out hdmi cables and the tv/monitor itself, so it must be the displayport to hdmi converter, those things die easily if they don't come doa, even knowing that you bough a decent one

if none of those work, then it could be the displayport output on your video card, not common but not impossible unfortunately

Yeah I tested the the normal HDMI into the TV and that worked. Are there any other sort of cables I could use?

I feel like a complete idiot.... it was the port in the back of the graphics card. I didn't realize the 1080 had multiple so I switched it and now it works. Thanks for the help!
