i run a Nvidia XFX Geforce 5600 video card, i have version 53.03 driver, but i am led to believe that the latest drivers in some cases can decrease performance? anyway, im just wondering if any1 can recommend a nice set of drivers of my card, if having the latest ones isnt the best!

The 53.03's were good, I got a big fat 3Dmark score with em'...I also liked the 52.16's. Your going to have to try them yourself, part of the fun of owning an nVidia board is playing with all the crazy drivers.

Yeah like GW says the 53.03 appear to be the best bet for most. If you read the driver reviews they have less anomalies. Sure you may get higher benchmark scores with some other driver, but if you look at the reviews, they don't make better use of the run-time compiler, and they have many more visual issues. Your scores may be higher, but likely you will start introducing issues that were solved with the latest set.

Just my view from the cheap seats. I haven't used the drivers, but I have read abou the effects they have had on the FX series. GW would know better which gives you better performance he used them during his stint with the FX5700U.
