Dual Monitor Help with 280x

Hey, so ive been using a TV as a monitor for a while now with my 280x. My TV doesnt have DVI so Ive been using a DVI to VGA adapter and its been working fine.

I just purchased a monitor and want to use both. I hook the monitor up to the DVI-D on the back and the monitor works beautifully. However when trying to use the TV it cant detect it. When I disconnect the monitor, the TV works and Vice Versa. Is this just a matter of needing a new cable, adapter or something of the like?

I cant figure this out.
