I'm looking for some advice on getting a new setup for my 3d artwork. I have always used a pentium, but I cannot find a Dual Pentium motherboard? Does one exist? Should I bother staying with pentium, or is there a better processor for 3d?

Hmm, dual Pentiums, should be on eBay. As for Dual Pentium 4, no, Intel decided from now on only Xeons would go dual.

To tell you the truth, there's 0 difference between a 512k P4 and a 512k Xeon core. Intel waited until recently to move Xeons to a higher bus speed however.

You'd probably get better performance from two Opterons. Someone's making a dual-opeteron board with an nForce3 chipset now, so you don't even have to stoop as low as VIA chipsets to build it.

Any word on when nForce4 chipsets for Opterons may be available?

No word yet, but a little birdy tells me the nForce4 for dually opterons might be the deal breaker between Dell and Intel...

Oh, but you know how speculation is, I guessed that nForce4 desktop boards wouldn't reach normal levels of availability until mid January, then appologized when it looked like it really was going to happen earlier like they said, then ended up having to recant my appology.
