I transfered some home movie VHS tapes to DVD a few years back and now I want to move the video to my laptop hard drive. I'm running Vista 32. I have tried averythng I know of and can't seem to accomplish this. I can get the files to move but they show up as VLC VTS.vob files. I DID NOT use VLC to make these files. I've tried Windows Media Player, Media Center, drag and drop, cut and paste, converting the files. Nothing works. This shouldn't be that hard. I feel like there is a simple process for this but for some reason it is not obvious to me. I welcome any help.

Thanks for the reply anonymous1. I already have VLC and it is a good and capable program but isn't much help with moving the files. I found the solution in downloading a (free) version of WINX DVD Ripper. It moves the video just fine.
