Hi there,

Most of the expensive DVD software lies in the authoring field. If you want to burn data into a DVD-R for greater storage space, then you can use any burning programs as long as it supports writing on DVDs. Nero is a good example.

However, if you are planning on editing movies and adding DVD menus, then you may have to shell out big bucks for the really good ones. There are some cheap DVD authoring kits out there such as Pinnacle DVD Express (~ $50). However, you will be limited to what you can do.

Also, if you don't mind the DVD menus, you can always use a program such as Nero to burn your movies into DVD compatible format directly, as long as your movies are already encoded for DVD use. I don't think you'll get the menus with this option.

I hope this helps..
