DVDRipperPlatinum is garbage Videos encoded in mp4 wont work

does any knows how to get videos encoded in mp4 using dvd ripper platinum to work on your ipod? i tried changing the options and alot of other things but it still isnt working. it'll work for about 30 seconds then freeze. help anyone
