DxDiag Shows N/A

Im trying to upgrade my friends pc from Windows XP to Windows 8, it is a perfectly capable Vista PC, but i have one issue, i have no clue what graphics card/embedded graphics he has, i go to dxdiag (in Xp and in the Windows * winPE setup) and all i get in N/A for every entry... nothing is in Device Manager, how can i ind out what gfx card he has?
