Well you could improve performance by modding the game and tweaking with the video settings. There is a really simple way to achieve this as well. Here's a video that I found that works. The tutorial part isn't great but it does show where to find the software. It says FPS but it should generally help in performance as well as you can disable intros and stuff. http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHcbEnjXIYw

after patch 1.2.1 I believe it has gotten worse, when fighting a horde of zombies or a cut scene was when I experienced lag before the patch, now i'm getting it when free running (short lag spikes but very noticeable) when I wasn't before. It seems to be the GTX 970 that is having problems and they are working on it.
My System:
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 @ 3.4
Ram: 8GB
I believe my pc is more then capable of not having these lag spikes. My friend has a GTX 650ti and he's running fine with no lag spikes. Lets hope there is a quick patch.

Thanks Rihu98 but no matter how safe it is. I personally think that its best to wait for an official fix. Afterall, they owe us one after they made us pre-order and then nailed us with a fake release.

When you say (improves performance) and all similar things.... you kinda give hope to ones who are "playing" the game "already"!!!!. But your forgetting that what Riblee and I were "been" trying to say here is that "The game is ((((Unplayable))))."

The game stutters so bad at the main menu, it stutters like every second, imagine that!!! You just cant play a game like that. I hope this clears it a bit!!!

Good for ya, but I think your one of those who "can" play the game but with issues, like not very happy with the performance or maybe you haven't noticed it!. We are the ones with AMD GPU who are doomed!.

I'm gonna do something which I don't really have to do. I am going to replace my CPU cooling solution and will replace all fans inside. I know this has nothing to do with it coz my temps are all good but it wont hurt really!! They been in there for quite sometime anyways, besides, this could be the only good thing about Dying Light,,, forcing me to do some cleaning inside! lol. Will let you know what happens!............!!!

This is just BS, you're letting your own angst cause you to make rash assumptions and petty insinuations.

I'm on a 7970 and I can play it just fine. Do you want to solve your own problem or just troll against those whom are content?

You could try disableing film grain. I tried it and got a couple fps 10+. Keep view distance half; I also tried it on low but theres no fps difference just by 1-5. Hopefully this works for you. You might notice lag but have enough boost to keep you out of stuttering

In my opinion the people with the extreme issue's either have defective hardware component or configuration issue's... I believe this issue can be resolved with extensive troubleshooting...

It is BS to you, it is NOT to me. And I am not supposed to be solving a problem I paid $60 for not having!. I don't really understand why your here if your not having one....!. I am on a 7970 and a good one actually and I am very much convinced that the problem is not the card, the problem is the game itself and am not fixing $hit myself, they should do it, besides, your replying to a comment I made to one who did not even own an AMD GPU!.

I really suggest that you go back and read more of the comments. You would realize that its not just me whos having the (Exact) same problem. And my specs are up there if you wanna have a look, they are not bad at all if you haven't noticed!.

I'm not talking about your situation being BS or false, I'm talking about your attitude, and this response only further verifies what I'm saying.

You ask why I'm here, you assume I've not read the comments. I happen to have an ongoing list of notifications for "Best Solution" in many of the threads I participate in, but I'm less inclined to offer help when I see people let their angst cause them to insinuate people are either lying about their performance, or not seeing stutter.

When you act like that it's obvious you are resisting helpful or explanatory comments and being petty and selfish. It matters a lot how you conduct yourself in such threads, not just what you say. It's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel with your head so firmly planted up your behind.

The reason I posted my specs is that someone has the same build I do. They reported issues with theirs, but I just wanted to give people an idea as to what my build is and that I am not having issues. I can more than "play" the game. It doesn't suffer from frame drops, except for maybe once or twice I counted. But it only occurred for a split second and this was before the patch. I get 60+ FPS. I even get 30-40 FPS when running at resolutions over 1080p, but it is nonsensical for me to play at such resolutions, because my LED TV is a 1080p. All textures are on the highest possible. All lighting is on as well.

Understood, appreciated buddy. The problem here is that if you google this "Dying Light constant stuttering" you will find that ones who are suffering from this specific issue are ones who own AMD GPUs. And it don't matter if you own a Good CPU or not, it don't matter if it was intel or AMD CPU. It dont matter if your specs are better than what Techland is asking for or not. Also and at the same time, you will find it difficult to read through the posts because half or more of them aren't even having the same problem! Or not sharing the same specs nor the maker.

Techland promised two times now to fix this issue but nothing until now. I myself tried everything I could think of, others have too but to no avail. It is simply impossible to play the game the way it is with this bad stuttering. It stutters so very bad and your not even in the game yet, it stutters while your out and still at the main menu.

The OP has a GTX 970 and is experiencing the issue - Did you read the original post??

It is too bad that so many folks are having issues with the game. I saw a video illustrating the stuttering, and wow, that is not even close to playable. I also saw people getting busted textures and shading in the midst of the stuttering. I am the sort of person that doesn't consider 30-40 FPS playable. I am 60 FPS or bust kind of guy.

It really is a great game. It gets better the more you play it. The graphics are amazing, though I think I have seen a few games with better (Call of Duty Advanced Warfare). I would say the graphics are as good as Far Cry 4. The physics are some of the best I have seen. People cry about the story being bad, but I think it is pretty good.

I really wish my damn GTX 970 didn't have that stupid VRAM issue. It still performs really well, but I am afraid it won't hold up with new installments such as Witcher 3 in coming months.

Yup..... they are about evolve optimizing... nothing better in my setup..
I'm thinking about OCing my CPU a bit to see if it changes anything, still it's getting my nerves that a Q6600 performs better in such a shitty optimized game like this...

So i made a video trying to specify the severity of the problem:

As you can see there is no change to stuttering when i switch settings ( FRAPS when recording is 30-35 avg, unlike 40-45 when not recording).
347.52 drivers of course......

I suggest you disable Vsync and try installing the game on a ssd if you have one.

You can try to OC however it probably will not make a huge difference...

I disabled vsync in the video just to show that nothing's changing.
I had this feeling too, so i installed it to my ssd yesterday... footage is from my ssd (OCZ Vertex III 128gb)...

I also OCed (lots of free time yesterday) to 3.2 Ghz, could have tried further but you're right, no improvement at all... i guess i have to just wait...

That is pretty bad and the video is only indoors. I can't imagine what outdoors must be like. I will make a video sometime and prove I am not suffering from performance issues. My PC is good, but it isn't the best on these forums.

Nahh it's just the FRAPS recording causing fps diving (22-35)... tried outdoors and it's about 30-40 (44-46 avg) max settings...
My recording is all about that stuttering in any setting.. it's freaking me out!!

I hate to be the Bearer of bad news but you might need to upgrade your Motherboard, CPU... I suggest you make sure that your PSU, GPU and Ram are functioning properly. If everything is okay you can try to go to windows 8.1 however i don't recommend it right now because windows 10 will be a free upgrade for windows 7 and 8.1 customers. Most likely a 4790k and Good motherboard will be the remedy,,,

Good luck!

Yea i know mobo+cpu is obsolete, even though it stands pretty well against every other game out there, max settings-1080p.
I memtested my rams 20 hours straight, no problems of course. These with PC Power & Cooling 750w giving them juice.
I really can't do an upgrade like this just for a game, already did for my gfx card for a bunch of games (unity, far cry 4,witcher 3 etc), and a 4790k right now costs too much to consider it as a decent upgrade.. my plan is to upgrade when skylake-windows 10 are out.
Appreciate your help though!
