News E-paper hits 75 Hz to better suit productivity tasks — kits in two screen sizes go up for pre-order, starting at $199

While these seem nifty, I am more interested in lower refresh models that provide better color. I saw a video yesterday on the Reflection Frame...a simple device meant to display static images, and it had INCREDIBLE color saturation compared to everything else on the market! And it had a battery that would last for literally YEARS.

I never once thought an e-ink computer monitor would be a good idea...but I guess we will have to wait to see what they actually can ship before rendering judgement.

I've been waiting for the prices to come down I always thought it would be useful for reading white papers, comics, and books. I am still using my first e-ink reader with a 6" display, 18 years later.

I wonder what is the point. Personally, I find e-ink displays great for reading books and comics where the limited color reproduction and slow refresh rate works fine. Moving it to 75hz makes the screen refresh faster, but when it is mostly slow or static images, I wonder if it is worth the battery impact and the extra cost. For watching movies, I rather use a proper LCD or OLED display.

75Hz E-paper is damn impressive. I'd be happy with 30Hz honestly. I see a few E-paper phones popping up lately and I'm just waiting for something small with an adequate refresh rate.

All good trends for this technology, Getting closer to impulse buying range. I think a side 10-13" monitor/display tablet would be great, ideally have it be wireless display tech, as I want to put it in my hands. I could see adding that to my workflow for documents.
