Well I certainly don't agree with them being the "worst" company above the people that are destroying the world's economy and the oil spill fiasco. It might even be a tie with Activision on the worst game publisher. So if they're the worst, why are they one of the most profitable?

Businesses seek to make money, not to satisfy you. Keep buying their games and they couldn't care less how you feel. They will only care when it starts to cost them. They assume they can dust off an old franchise and you'll buy it for the title. So far they've been right. All they want is sales figures to show the investors. Corporations serve their investors, not their customers.

Either way, EA still shows a lack of real change. Even as they promise to "do better' they refuse to admit their wrongs. You can't change without facing your mistakes.

[citation][nom]vaughn2k[/nom]I promise I will not buy your product, I will just download them on torrent sites, so if I found out its shitty, I will not waste my money, and will will not bow when I uninstall them.[/citation]

You're gonna infest your system with trojans and CnC zombienet software? That'll show em!

Some of the complaints EA has received or heard via press are legitimate, while other complaints -- like the always-on feature in SimCity serving as DRM (and it does no matter what he claims) -- are pure garbage.

So, in the press release to apologize he gives the finger to a lot of people? Niiice...

Although I really liked the Simcity series, I will boycott the last opus because of the always-online "feature" which is preventing me to play when I want and, more importantly, to play once the server will be shut down in an unknown future.

I just can't believe people do not see that once the company thinks the servers are costing them too much, or the company gets shut down, sold in all or in parts, gets restructured, or for whatever reasons just decides to shutdown the servers, your paid in full game will be useless!

I will actually not support ANY company that launches any game (other than mmos obviously) that requires always-online "drm/feature", even if that means I will pass up good games.

You cannot give into it people, if the boycott is major this "drm" will only have been a fad.

... my burnout paradise game now says, that i exceeded activations... so i needed to download a pirated copy to play it... even when i got the original... wtf!?

Burnout Paradise was an example of horrible corporate decisions years ago. The games still hype DLC that can't be purchased. In these times of virtualized servers, claims that maintaining a server to host stats is too expensive is just ludicrous.

"Many continue to claim the Always-On function in SimCity is a DRM scheme. It’s not. People still want to argue about it. We can’t be any clearer – it’s not. Period."

this is why I can't trust EA...even from Peter Moore whom I had great respect when he was VP at Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business...I felt he truly wanted the best for the gamers and did great job pushing Xbox to current popularity...

but this statement smells full of EA PR spin...

if you can change one line in a code and still be able to play the game as long as you like, then why else do you need the servers?

the game uses servers only to save the game (which is unnecessary IMO when games can save locally), check on your friends status if they're online (also unnecessary when so many games use "friends" list without using central servers), and resource sharing (again unnecessary if it's not done in real time), and of course DRM...

Peter Moore now works at EA...that means whatever he says it's from EA and their PR and lawyers, NOT himself...

"The tallest trees catch the most wind"

The largest piece of shiit tends to stink the worst.....just ask my old lady.

Worst companies.......Oil and banking companies IMO

I'm glad this is happening to EA, I hate them with passion and I'm boycotting all of their games and Origin.

However, I do have to give them kudos for their LGBT policy, that takes balls nowadays when everyone is homophobic.

Peter Moore needs to get rid of flaky browser-based launchers and integrate with punkbuster better and they'll be just fine.

Oh... And don't monopolize entire sports franchizes (ie NFL) so that other, better-quality sports game-developing companies (2K) can push your own employees to be their best in a competitive marketplace.

Tallest tree? Maybe the widest tree. Tallest tree would mean your the best tree which isn't even close. Widest tree meaning volume as in more games is more like it.

The Always On is garbage, why does somebody that wants to play single player need to always have internet. Where's the logic in that?

I could really care less if you think you can do better. We've been down this road before not to long ago when people were complaining that EA just put out shit and expects you to pay for shit. You said that if a game didn't meet your high standards that it wouldn't go out and for a time it seemed like you were making good on your statement but looks like you've gone back to bottle again.

I've washed my hands of EA and DICE as the only games that I bought from EA was from DICE and I'm tired of the promises they make to the PC community and then later on never come thru with them.

Solution? Don't buy their games, but of course, people won't stop playing EA games. I'm not supporting them anymore until they change their minds.

Seems like lots of spin going on here. He promises change and then say this: "The tallest trees catch the most wind. At EA we remain proud and unbowed."
A wise admiral once said, "It's a trap!" I won't buy into his talk or his corporation until I see some real goodwill towards the consumers by EA.

[citation][nom]kev91423[/nom]If they were sincere (which is dubious at best) they'd prove it by releasing their stranglehold on the sports licenses so we're not forced to buy the same crap year after year because we have no option. "undue hate"? no...pete. You're just too close to see the problem.[/citation]
EA have a gun to your head and are FORCING you to buy their crappy sports games every year?
You could always, you know, NOT buy their games.

Sim City?
Spore was the biggest let down of all time. A rocky launch for a shitty Sim City game doesn't compare. Are our memories really only effective for the most recent month?

Problem is EA basicly said we will never be worst again. Then went on to basicly blame the customers again for this and not their own company. We got worst because, our customers expected the wrong things from simcity, we got worst because we are so awesome and big we are bound to catch more complaints. I personally will never be buying a EA game again till its in the bargin bin, and I will not be buying anything that requires Origin. In closing go fuck yourself EA.

Well. All their games have these horrible thing called online passes. That's the only problem I've had in few years of playing EA games. I also don't like how the Need For Speed series is today. They took away local multiplayer. :/

EA said the same thing last year. They got worse since then. They can try to deflect to other companies and use LGBT people as scapegoats all the want, but the fact is that those other companies haven't done anything as bad as EA in the past year. Bank of America and AIG won Worst Company in America in previous years due to the financial crisis. BP and TransOcean have also claimed the golden poo thanks to their oil spill. Honestly, I'm shocked that Carnival isn't going to get it this year, but I suppose Carnival has so much competition that it's easy to avoid them. That really speaks volumes about how upset people are with EA and how badly they need to actually do the positive things they keep claiming they want to do year after year. I want action, not talk.

For EA to win this twice in a row puts them in an elite group that includes Comcast and Bank of America. I don't buy EA games. Nobody should buy EA games. They act like a wounded pigeon posturing about how innocent and big they are, then immediately stab everyone in the back with their next product. EA deserves this and every single hit they take. EA needs to stop throwing away criticisms by brushing them off and start realizing that people complain because they're trying to tell you how to improve.

Somebody please fire Peter Moore. If I were on the EA board I'd be advocating for a complete clean sweep of the executive management at all levels. Pete is no better than that John guy that got booted out of the CEO position. Hell, what that company really needs is someone who isn't a career executive to run it.

I usually have more fun playing cheap indie games than these big shiny soulless blockbuster releases that EA loves so much. They make money tho so I suppose there are plenty of people who go for that type of thing. I bough MW3, played it for about an hour. That was the last EA game I bought. It was more from peer pressure than anything else.
