EA, really? So you are saying the middle of the road AMD SOC chips are five years ahead of any current gaming PC? Intel should give up now, AMD will corner the gaming market with its all powerful SOC. /s
I bet this is a typical VP at EA. No wonder they are the worst company to work for two years running.
A company like EA is like a tree full of monkeys, all on different limbs, at different levels, some climbing up, some climbing down. The monkeys on the top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but A holes.

And they wonder why their company is the worst. Even their executive level staff is incompetent. I'll pit my 680s sli/3770k with their consoles any day. Lets start with 5760x1080, oh wait...

This is quite a bit self evident. Previous generation of consoles also showed higher theoretical performance in games than then generation high end PCs showed actual performance. It's due PC's inherently OS caused overhead. Haswell combined with 7xx or 8xxx will have better actual performance than PS4/Xbox One theoretical performance is.

"These next-gen platforms create dynamic, living worlds," he said. "Your game could change overnight depending on actions by other gamers around the globe. Your player stats and information can be updated in real time with real-world player stats and injury reports. These consoles are also inherently more social – something that didn’t matter much when the last consoles came out eight years ago."
You mean like my PC has been doing for years??!! How is this guy allowed to make such ludicrous statements?

It's simple really: no ~100W console GPU will outperform a ~250W PC GPU even with console optimization, it's just impossible.

Lol, so I guess that means no more half baked ports to the PC and the rehashed Maddens/Call of Duties/xx shooters? Call them whatever they want, or how "advanced" the next gen will be, as long as it shows in the games.

Guys, regarding the title, the Xbox One is wayyyyy ahead of gaming PC's. Does the PC have a motion sensor to recognize your face as soon as you walk in the room and say hello? Does it have a sensor required to be always on as to learn about your video habbits and make suggestions? Does it have a sensor that will make you feel uncomfortable because you can be spied on? No! 😀

Now CTO positions are given to anybody with some manager background. Because this guy has the technological knowledge of a marketing guy, sprinkling the article of random buzzwords.

LMAO............LMAO.........LMAO.......... Wait...........LMAO.......... I have something to say........... LMAO.......... I can't stop laughing tho........... LMAO.... Ah forget it.........

This is a blatant lie. I will believe gaming systems are ahead of Gaming PCs when I actually see it. All they do is strip down the graphic details and take advantage of the frighteningly low resolution of TVs....just trying to slurp more money out of people again and again. Boasting about the imaginary computing power of a gaming system has happened repeatedly throughout my entire life....just YUCK.

how you can compare 1000$ PC with a 500$ console?

While this is on the verge of fanboyism from EA towards console-kind, there is some merit to this. Remember, these consoles are going to focus in on video gaming. They are also heavily multi-core. And because each system is going to be 'set in stone', developers are going to be able to pump graphics probably much higher then we are currently used to on PC gaming. Yes, after a couple of years, the games on PC will have parity and start to outpace, no doubt. But these are very beefy consoles and with software targeting exact specs, developers will be able to push out something amazing.
When the PS3 and Xbox 360 first came out, the games were much better looking then anything I was used to on PC at the time. But sure, after 7 years, of course the PC games dominate what we see right now.
In any case, I have a feeling developers will be able to push graphics far above what we have on PC currently for a few years before PC components become ridiculously more powerful once again.

Same way the article compares the now consoles to current high end PCs. They say the new consoles are a generation ahead of PCs. Admittedly they suggest it's the architecture that's ahead not necessarily the power. At least at first. The article then goes on to give examples on how this new architecture will give better a experience then their pc counterparts. Though not in so few words.

My argument is how can someone that already possesses a $1000 pc, as you say, see the benefit of buying either of the new consoles when the performance of this 'old gen tech' already beats it? That's how i can compare these PCs to the $500 consoles, many people already have good PCs. EA is saying that the new consoles are better tech to try and sell it. Based purely on the tech and not console exclusives, which is what really sells these things, there's no reason to fork over the dough for one when moderately priced PCs, of which many people already own, are just as good if not better in regards to performance.

Don't get me wrong, i can see the appeal if one doesn't already have a good PC. Exclusives aside. (ie games and things like kinect and other weirdness)

The title explains everything but.... Really? How about the hardwares? Seriously, after a year I'm pretty sure that PS4 & Xbox One's hardware are 5 generations behind.

Generation ahead of gaming PCs? What do they use for PC gaming? Windows Vista Alienware PCs? EA stop talking. We all know your morons but your removing all doubt.

Well, he has to say this, most publishers/developers have to believe this in order to try to convince the masses that the next-gen consoles are worth buying and to purchase a whole new library of said games to go with that purchase.
