Ahh yes... The classic blown highlight syndrom! Being a Canon kinda guy I
just had to point this out, didn't I?

Unfortunately couldn't do much about it, sometimes you just gotta go with
it, it was brighter and hotter than a biatch today (til the 6th storm in 5
days came through), though when I played around with the fill flash later it
improved heaps. Actually with the flash set on iTTL and the camera dialed
in at -.3 the shots came out pretty good, but then again I'm still learning
this fang dangled digital thing - a - majig

I will put a couple of shots up with the fill, they are non interesting
subject to you guys, but its interseting to see the fill results.

Here is another shot on the same day, note the shadows showing the position
of the sun, it was basically right in the middle of the day on a very hot
day, this shot was done with fill flash set on iTTL camera dialed in at -.3,
I think the results are pretty good.

Hmmm. Lighting... Hmmm. Don't like raw flash myself. You can't beat God for
light, my mentor used to tell me. Of course he hated flash powder too! I
once lit a whole street up with a FP flash on a Mamiya press camera just to
get a shot in the dark, so the speak!

The hardest thing to achieve with the narrow contrast range of Digital is
correct exposure to produce detailed highlights and shadows with detail too.
Just to show it can be done: http://www.ryadia.com/skelton-black.jpg

Otherwise, I'd ditch the Nikon and go for Canon!!!. Ha, ha. The real problem
with fill flash is the way it dies off with distance. Not much you can do
about that except use the shadow/highlight function of Photoshop and forget
the flash all together.

Try this: http://users.bigpond.net.au/ryadia/skelton-black.jpg

I'm in the process of changing ISPs so there might be a hic-up or two!

Thanks.
